Prayer - yes, no, wait

Prayer : Yes, no and wait

“Ask, and you will be given what you ask for. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Anyone who seeks, finds. If only you will knock, the door will open.

The other day my family met me for supper at a BBQ restaurant  as our power to our house was off due the snow and ice.   The power had went off around mid night the night before. So we could not use our kitchen so we decided to go out.  Upon our return home we could see some parts of our neighborhood was restored with power and that was very encouraging to us. Then as we went round the curve to our home I heard my mother in law say, "Please Lord, help our house to have the power turned ON". Well, it wasn't on and we had to spend a couple hours in our cold house without the power.

Now for me, I got my pocket radio and I listen to UGA basketball game. My wife went right to sleep on the couch, but my son went bonkers, (crazy) for on a normal night, he multitasks on the TV, on his laptop, on his tablet and cell phone. WOW !! That just gives me a headache. :-)

But we had no power and we had a dark house just he just had his cell phone and my pocket radio. So we decided to move from the living room to our bed room, where we would at least warm up our bed by laying on top of it.  So it was about 8:30pm and the sun was down and dark.  My son crashed on his bed and we laid on our bed and my wife crashed, she went to sleep very fast and I listened to the ball game on my pocket radio and finally went to sleep also.  About a couple of hours later, our power came on !!  The lights in the hallway and living room came on. The TV set came on and most of all the furnace came on.  All that activity woke me up and I looked at my clock on my cell phone and it was 12 minutes to 11pm.  It was then, that God spoke to my heart and mind.

My mother in law prayed a prayer earlier that night, "Lord help us to have power" And it was a Yes, no and wait answer.  We have to realize first, God did answer that prayer. It wasn't immediately, it wasn't a  no, it was a "wait"  You see, many think if it isn't an immediate answer, it means God said no.  But in this case He said just wait and a two hours later He answered our prayer again.  This great thought could improve your prayer life and give you great understanding about God.  And it's simple, He answers on His time and His way.  And I am OK with that, but are you ??

Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart (& mind) and lean not on your own understanding for He shall direct your path.  He'll lead you as a kind compassionate shepherd and love you as one of His own child.  Praise the lord !!  If you are not saved, call on Him today, for whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved, for the heart man believes and with mouth confession is made.

So for answering prayer with GOD, it could be a YES, NO or WAIT from God.  But with salvation, it's instant, and in your heart.

God Bless you friend, Have a Great day,

The yield sign

The Yield Sign

I guess, the most ignored traffic sign is the yield sign.  One day I was turning off the main highway and driving in the deceleration lane (slow down lane) and there was a car turning left and I yielded to him, as to allow him to turn safely while waited. Well, he did not understand my courteous, cautious and common sense way. So we just sat there as I finally hand motion him on.  Then at the same turn, I was turning left and the young driver did not yield, he just made the right hand turn, I was courteous, cautious and used common sense, and allowed him to turn then I waited for him to clear the turn.  Then God started to speak to my heart and mind.

In our humanistic society, many are taught go fast, don't let things get ahead of you and don't give in or yield, always take advantage of your situation. Thus, we get many people in life who go-go-go, as they try to get ahead. And they apply this concept in their life and run over people and things.

In a version of the bible (KJV) the bible teaches us to yield to the spirit. As we yield He fills.  But the three ways to yield spiritually in our life.  First we should yield to the scriptures, the word of God.  For the word of God is like a mirror, a looking glass, as we read the bible it shows how we need to walk and talk. We read the bible then make adjustments to our lives based upon the word of God,

Secondly, we need to yield to the spirit, The holy Spirit. After we are saved and become a child of God we have the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, comes into our lives to teaches and directs us. See john chap. 16 and Romans 8.  Warning, the Holy Spirit can be quench, like putting out a fire, do not yield to the worldly way.

Thirdly, we need to yield to our Savior. Either in salvation, to be saved or in service for Him, to serve Him,  yielding to His words and ways. As we yield to Him, giving Him the right of way, then we will stand for Him and develop a strategy for Him against worldly ways. The three that are against us are the world, the flesh and the devil.

So in driving we should obey the yield signs and our spiritual walk, we need to yield to the scriptures, the Holy Spirit and the Savior. His ways should be our ways. BUT, as I said earlier, you must yield to the Spirit for salvation, to be saved. This always the first step to be a child of God.  For whosoever call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God Bless you friend and yield to Him.

Keep your Helmet on

The Helmet of Salvation
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Eph 6:16-17

The other day, I watched a rerun of a Classic College Football game.  Being from the south, naturally I'm an SEC fan and more closer a UGA fan. I have been since the 1980s. There was a play where a football player's helmet came off during a tackle or in the heat of the moment during the play, and the new rule is the player has to sit out for one play after that happens.  He has to go to his sideline with his team and put his helmet back on and then re-enter the game.  As announcer or play by play man said that, and then God spoke to my heart.

Many times and during the heat of the battle in life, our helmet of salvation may come off.  For sure, I am NOT talking about loosing your salvation, that's another blog post someday, but forgetting about what our salvation experience is all about with the Lord. For it gives a hope, home and happiness.

The shock preachers, those who twist a basic bible truth and announce to a congregation, will say knowing that you are saved and on your way to heaven will not help you in most of life tragedies.  But I say it does help and will help you, as your salvation experience is the very foundation for your christian life.  It's something that needs to be repeated, rehearsed and reminded to other Christians and non Christians as well.

I was taught this by my former pastor at my home church when I was younger.  He would say, I was saved in 1949 and then gave the name of the church the city and state.  I will never forget it and of course my congregation remembered my salvation date and place in the church where I was pastor, as I repeated and rehearsed to them.

Salvation means deliverance, so in the Old Testament, God told Moses to remind the children of Israel of their great deliverance from Pharaoh and the land of Egypt. God did a great miracle for them and it would the basis for their journey in the wilderness. Similar we need the same today in our life. God did a great thing for us when He saved us, for salvation is a great spiritual blessing and we need to remember this.

So when your helmet salvation comes off, go to your sidelines with your people, Christians or the church and put it back on then re-enter the game of life. It may only be for a short while even maybe one play, but you can get back in.  Just knowing you are saved (from Hell) and a child of God with a home in heavenly, can get you through many things we deal with in life.

But dear friend, you must be saved, born again, accept Jesus Christ, God's son into your life. For whosoever shall call in the name of the Lord shall be saved, born again. For God so love the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believed in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life, For God sent not His son to condemn the world, but the world through Him might be saved. see John 3:16-17

God Bless you, have a great day,
