Lord, teach us to pray

And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto himLordteach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. Luke 11:1

Dr. Luke, as follower of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, followed Jesus during His earthly ministry as Prophet, teacher and Healer.  Yet, Luke record this message about prayer.

Luke saw the curiosity of the disciples about prayer.

I have heard this passage preached and taught many times over the past many years and one lesson is very prevalent, "LORD teach TO PRAY"

It is not necessarily asking the "how to" but asking "teach us to pray"

Obviously, the disciples saw and heard JESUS their Master pray and call on Jesus's Father. So as similar to desiring a cool drink of water to satisfy their thirst, the disciples wanted in on prayer and praying.

And if the disciple wanted on this, how much more do we , as Christians, children of GOD need this also. SO LORD "teach us to pray" Amen

Fear not, words from Jesus

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. 19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; Rev 1:17-19

Words of Jesus to His beloved disciple John.

In the first chapter of the last book of the bible, the Book of the Revelation, Jesus gives some great encouraging words to his disciple and now Apostle John.  It is the beginning of many words of Jesus that John would record.

Jesus identifies Himself with a great proclamation, " I am the first and the last"  Now John wrote about this in the gospel of John chapter 1 verse 1.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Jesus was alive on this earth as secular history and the Bible shows record his time on earth. He was the great prophet. Born of the virgin Mary, as GOD became man through His son, the LORD JESUS CHRIST. He lived on this earth and then died on the cross after the rejection from His people. John said it best in John Chapter 1 verse 11 & 12

He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

So He lived and died and now, He is seated at the righthand of His Father GOD, doing His Heavenly ministry, as our High Priest.

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; see Hebrews  8:1

So as we see and hear these words from our LORD Jesus, may I say, Hear Him today. Hear Him for help, happiness and a home in heaven to go to someday.

Seek the LORD while He may be found, call on Him while He is near. Accept GOD's son, Jesus as your LORD and call on Him today.

Asking, Believing and confessing. (A-B-C) For with you heart, all believes and your mouth, confession is made unto salvation. Believe, faith base and call on His name, as He will hear your prayer.

You are just a prayer away from GOD, call on Him today.

The GOD of Comfort

The GOD of Comfort

2 Cor 1:3-4,6

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

The word comfort, in the original language, Greek, means a calling near, a summons, (especially for help) also, a calling to one’s side for consolation.

All comfort, as “all” means all, also in every kind or variety.

I say, ‘What an awesome GOD !!”

And may I say, It is true!! (I have seen it and experience in my lifetime)

In this scripture text, we see the source of comfort, GOD. Then see the scope of His comfort, “all” and we see the significance of this comfot, it is  consolation and salvation.

First, we see the source of our comfort, and it is very clear, it comes from GOD. The creator of the time, day light and dark, the creator of this world, the GOD in Heaven, all powerful, all knowing and always everywhere, is the GOD of comfort.

Secondly, the scope of our comfort. It covers us first, personally, and then it covers others, Friends and family. When are comforted and experience it, then we should share the comfort with others, especially those in trouble and in tribulation as GOD is for you, he is not against you.

Thirdly, the significance of His comfort is consolation and salvation as seen in verse 6.  We will have personal consolation and deliverance from troubles and tribulations.  It is for us and for us to clam. A promise from GOD.

So, this is a calling for Help for you. And as David said many years ago in the Book of Psalms, “my help comes from the LORD” (and for YOU too).

Three hidden truths

Three hidden truths from three parables Luke 15

It has been said a parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning.  Our LORD Jesus as the great master / teacher used this means of teaching to His disciples, we who are believers and to all that seek Him.

Now, each of the three parables have a story and lesson for all.  But here are the hidden truths.

First, in verses 3-7 the parable of the lost sheep. We see, what an earthly shepherd would do. But a deeper teaching is what the great and Good shepherd did for us all. He left Heaven, he left the throne of Glory, to go and come to the earth to find the lost sheep. Luke said, in his book, Jesus come to seek and save that which was lost. So not only does it who and what an earthly shepherd would do, but it shows what the LORD Jesus did for us. It shows His love, His looking and His labor for the lost sheep. And this teaches us salvation.

Secondly, parable # 2, the parable of the lost coin verse 8-10.  The bible teaches the bride of Christ as a woman. All believers, all those who have been saved by the grace of GOD through faith are apart of the Bride of Christ.  And so this is a message from Jesus to his bride the church.  Clean your house, your heart, and find that one valuable thing you lost. Ten is the number of testimonies, perhaps she lost one part of her testimony. Your testimony with man and GOD.  First, she lighted a candle or lamp, GOD’s light always shows that something is missing, it exposes the blemish and the wrong, it shows where you need to clean. May I say, many times, it is your heart, your head(mind) and home.  The old testament patriot, KING David, say in the Psalms “Thy word is a lamp to my feed and a light to my path”. And this teaches us sanctification.

Thirdly, parable # 3, the lost son. The son made a wild and worldly decision to leave the Father. But in his leaving, he found regret that he left the Father. So the Father was not mean or mad. But He longed for His lost son. Then was happy rejoiced when he came back.  Truly, showing the great love of the Father and our Heavenly Father. The Father hugged and loved him, praise the LORD, he loves you dear friend, you may come back to Him!! And this teaches reconciliation.

So, we see three earthly stories, the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost on, BUT, great is the Heavenly meaning!!

Dear friend, GOD is lovingly looking for YOU today, why want you call on Him, today, He is just a prayer away. And, most importantly, whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be saved, that could be you.

May GOD bless you,

RevDan
