What do you seek

What do you seek?

The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.38 And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?”39 He said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the [aa]tenth hour. John 1:38-39

A very interesting question, to which I guess, many have that same question today.  The two disciples, I say, Andrew and Philip, HEARD the words of the Lord and then inquired of Him.  Many times that is the way it will happen. God will speak to you through His word and the Holy Spirit will speak / whisper, “Check it out”.  Then there will be a desire to abide and stay with Him. To follow His steps and hear His words and then go and tell others of the one you have met.

And this is the way to God, for first you see Him and then you heard of Him and then you will want to follow Him.  The disciples saw Jesus, then they heard his words and then they followed him.

They were not quick to hear and then blow it off, they did not refuse nor reject it, they were moved by His words and by what was said in their bible / their scriptures of the day, what Moses and the prophets wrote, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote. John 1:45

This led them to believe and follow Jesus.  And He accepted them and allowed them to abide with Him. PTL!!  (For He did have plans for them later)

And this too, could be YOU, dear friend, “WHAT DO YOU SEEK??” or what are you looking for??  Perhaps you have seen and heard about Jesus and you want to inquire of Him. And you can by start reading the bible particularly St. John and pray. For if you turn unto God, He will turn unto you!!

May God bless you friend,

Revealing a hidden truth

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. 1Tim3:16

God was manifested (revealed) in the flesh and this manifestation came through the Lord Jesus, His son. God in the flesh is Jesus Christ. As the mana fell from heaven, literally came down from heaven in the wilderness journey for Israel, so too did the son of God come down from heaven.  Jesus said ‘I am that bread”.

So God was manifested in the flesh at the BIRTH of Christ,  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.  Matt1:23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.  Luke 1:30-31
God was seen in the fire at the burning bush with Moses in Genesis chapter 3. Also God was seen in the smoke and fire in the tabernacle that Israel built in the wilderness journey.  It was in The Holy place which was in the middle of the tabernacle. But now, He is come in the flesh of a man through the Lord Jesus Christ.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John1:14
So God was manifested in the flesh at Christ’s birth, but also Christ’s baptism.  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.  John 1:29

And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. John 1:34
God was manifested in the flesh by His son Jesus Christ.  John the Baptist reveals this at Christ’s baptism and declares this to Israel and to the world. PTL!!

So not only was God’s manifestation is seen in Christ’s birth and baptism but also seen when Christ bear the cross, at His crucifixion.

Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.  Matt27:54

Jesus died on the cross. He was seen there on that hill as He was hung on the cross between heaven and earth.  He could have called ten thousand angels but He opened not His mouth.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  John 1:10-12

God bless you today my friend, perhaps you will see the mystery or Hidden Truth!!

Sounding out the Word

Sounding out the Word

For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; 1Thess. 1:8

This week, I decided to listen to the bible from my cell phone, while going to my secular job. For I have a bible app and I can connect my phone to my car radio aux port to hear bible being read to me on my car;s sound system.  I chose to listen to I Thessalonians in the New Testament part of The Apostle Paul’s writings from his mission trip there.

While listening to the word, this verse and word jumped out to me, “you sounded out the word of the Lord”, and God spoke to my heart and mind.

A sound can be used for many things, an alarm, an announcement and a call for action.  We use an alarm to wake us up in the mornings from sleep. And what has happened to many Christians today, as they have fallen asleep by the ways of the world and they need to awake up. Well, our wake up call should be the bible God’s word. We should hear it and heed it for spiritual direction.

For the lost man, the sinner that needs to be saved, the alarm will come through God’s word to alarm about you soul’s salvation.  Either preached verbally or written in letters / text, as you must realize that there’s a heaven to gain and a hell to flee. The word is sounded out to you as an alarm for you to except Jesus Christ as your Savior.

So not only is a sound an alarm, a sound can be used as announcement.  It is a public notification or declaration.  For those who have never accepted Christ, the word of God is sounding out to let you know you can be saved, born again. You do not have to die yet in and with your sins. A decision has to be made.
For the believer you need to make that public declaration. The bible teaches us to show forth good work. Declare / announce Christ by following God’s words, ways and wisdom, trust in the Lord!!

Then lastly a sound can be call for action.  For the believer to share, sing and shout of the goodness of the Lord, and to do so according to the bible, the word of the Lord.

The Thessalonians sounded out the word of the Lord and it echoed like thunder across the way. My how that should challenge us today in this day and time that we live in. The Apostle Paul said they sounded it locally and everywhere. Perhaps, we could do the same.

But dear friend, before sounding out the word of the Lord, you need to accept the word of the Lord and be saved.  Now is the accepting time, today could be the day of salvation for you, call on Him, for whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. The you might smile, sing and shout!! ( I did and still do!!)

God Bless you,

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day to ALL !!

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Dear friend,
The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God Bless you friend,

Your works do follow you

The other day, my sister called me at work during my lunch time.  We spoke on my cell phone and she said she had a story to tell me.  Now she works for our county’s dial-a-ride service, she met an elderly and they got to talking. Well, as it turns out, the elderly lady worked with our Mother many years ago at the convalescent home. Our mother was head nurse there for many years and retired from there.  So the elderly lady told my sister of a story about one Christmas. My mom’s co-worker family was in bad financial shape and they were talking about how her family would not have a very big Christmas at all that year.  So my Mother thought and prayed and she went to our home church.  She told our pastor what was going on with this family and wanted to know if the church could help. Well, the church helped in a big way. They brought food and toys their house and my Mom went with the ladies of the church and her co-worker even hugged her neck. And so she told my sister, “THAT WAS THE BEST CHRISTMAS THEIR FAMILY EVER HAD!!

Well the story surprised my sister and she told it to our other brother and he was surprised as well.  For this happened many years ago, maybe even in the mid-1970s. Later with age my Mom became a little disenchanted with the church and her health did not allow her to go to church very much.  She was raised a preacher’s daughter for her Dad was a pastor.  But I always thought one of her best accomplishments besides getting her nursing degree was making sure all of us kids was raised in church and we all got saved.

But years later, her good works did follow her, even though she has passed in 2002, this good story was told of her and was a blessing to me and my brother and sister. Also, I have to mentioned it was day after my Mom’s birth date that my sister called me. I wondered to the Lord, if anybody would remember her birthday and He did by sending that person to my sister and telling her this story, truly showing “your works do follow you”

But dear friend, good works are great. We should plant the seeds of good works and wait for the harvest, but that’s after salvation, after you’re saved, after you become a Child of God.  So, please call on the Lord today, right where you are and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

May God bless you,
