Smoking through the Gospels


Last Sunday our pastor allowed a member of the Gideon's to speak at our church.

The Gideons place bibles in schools, college, military, hotels and jails. They are know as Gideons International. And I quote / copy and paste
Gideons International is an evangelical Christian association founded in 1899 in Wisconsin. The Gideons' primary activity is distributing copies of the Bible free of charge. This Bible distribution is a global enterprise taking place in some 200 countries, territories and possessions.


One story that he mentioned was from a New Testament bible that was placed in a jail. Well, one prisoner got a bible, but used it, the pages / page to roll cigarettes to smoke. So that went on for a while, tearing out each page to roll his cigarettes.  He went through the book of Matthew, Mark and Luke tearing each out, until he got to the book of JOHN, and He began to read pages from the book of John, then God spoke to his heart and the prisoner got saved, became a child of GOD, he prayed and he accepted Jesus into his heart.


Well, praise-the-Lord!!


He literally smoked his way through the gospels. Now he is out of jail and living for God.


Now, I would not recommend smoking, but get to God, and God getting you attention, I am ALL for that.  It is very interesting the Book of John is sold at Christian book stores as a book by itself. Many Christian workers, will just place / hand out a copy of the book of John when trying to lead a lost person the Christ.


SO you don't have to smoke, go to a Christian book store, go to a Hotel and find a bible, perhaps turn to the book of John first then read it and let God speak to your heart.


Accept Jesus into your heart, and He will save you,

Tell me the story

Tell me the story of Jesus, write on my heart every word,

Tell of the cross where they nailed Him,

Enduring in anguish and pain,

Tell of the grave where they laid Him,

Tell how He liveth again!!

OH, how His Love paid the ransom for me,

He died as He hung on the cross and was placed in a borrowed  tomb, but Sunday is coming!!  Resurrection Sunday!!

PTL!!!

He was that Prophet, no one spoke like Him, to save us

He is our Priest, seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for you and me, to sanctify us, (set us apart)

He is our coming King, His soon return, Victorious He'll come out the east  in the clouds, to Rule and reign us!!

Praise the Lord, Bless His dear name!!

Palms Sunday

 

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory.

He entered in the city from the east, the Sheep gate.

 

And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. ⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. ¹⁰ And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? ¹¹ And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

 

He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  13 which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

God's Testimony in three

God's Ark of His testimony in three contents


I was reading in Rev. 11 this week, and I noticed the phrase "the ark of his testimony" and God started to speak to my heart and mind.

The Ark was established / built for the children of Israel for the wilderness journeys. Used in battles and blessings.  A box over laid with gold, (Gold showing God's deity) and with the cherubim angels on top to become God's Mercy Seat. This is where God would dwell among them to forgive sin and bless them ( A great picture and great study!!  )

Now even the first covenant had regulations of divine worship and the earthly sanctuary. ² For there was a ^[a]tabernacle prepared, the ^[b]outer one, in which were the lampstand and the table and the ^[c]sacred bread; this is called the holy place. ³ Behind the second veil there was a ^[d]tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies, ⁴ having a golden ^[e]altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden jar holding the manna, and Aaron’s rod which budded, and the tables of the covenant; ⁵ and above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, see. Heb. 9:1-5 (NAS)


We see three things that is the testimony of God (three is the triune God head) Father, Son, Holy Spirit


God's work in Love - a golden jar manna (Jesus)


God's way in leadership - Aaron's rod that budded (God the father)


God's words in the Law - tablets of the Law (Holy Spirit)


I. God's work in Love - the holy manna, bread that came down from heaven. God provided for his dear children while they were indeed, actually hungry. That manna that fell daily to provide for them and their families. Some call it Angel food, but no doubt it fell / cam from heaven as God provided for His people.
I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. Psa 81:10
And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. Duet. 8:3


This a testimony of God's Heart and Love to provide for His Children and this is to be remembered forever.


Then does it also speak of JESUS, the bread that came down from heaven.


They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? ³¹ Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. ³² Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. John 6:30


I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” John 6 :51


God provided in the past the manna for the children of Israel in the wilderness, God will provide bread today, for you, in the present through Jesus Christ and continuing providing bread for whosoever will for the future. It's in God's heart and mind, it's His Testimony!!


II. God way in Leadership - Aaron's rod that Budded
As the story goes with the children of Israel, they rebelled and rejected God's leadership. (and Hey, many do also in today's time) BUT God said I will show you my leadership. 


Each family leader, each leader from the Twelve tribes of Israel had a "Rod"  So Moses gather twelve rods and placed them in the tent, (the Tabernacle) They put their name on each rod and God would shoe them who' the leader.  They laid the twelve dead rods (big sticks) on the ground that night and the next morning God showed them His sign.  One of the twelve bloomed and budded, and it was Aaron's Rod!! Leader of the Levites, tabernacle workers. See Numbers 17

Now on the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds. ⁹ Moses then brought out all the rods from the presence of the Lord to all the sons of Israel; and they looked, and each man took his rod.


Israel accepted the Leadership of GOD through Moses and Aaron!!


BUT doesn't this also look ahead to JESUS, He who was dead was made alive at His resurrection!!


The rod that blossomed and bloomed was made alive represents the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the early morning on the resurrection day [Almond flower is the one which blossoms early in the morning] . Jesus rose from the dead and seated at the right hand of the Father as our Royal High Priest provided by God.


So for our present time, this for the NOW!!  Jesus arose and is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for you and me.


III.  God's words in the Law - tablets of the Law
The Ten Commandments, the Law of God, our teacher, literally our school master. We did not know sin except we learn the Ten Commandments.  GOD promised the children of Israel a Leader in Moses, God promised a Land, in the promised land and GOD gave them a LAW.




GOD had hand written these laws in stone. His words for the children of Israel to live by. (and all humanity actually)


The Holy standards of God where God bless the people if they obey and curse if they don’t obey it! As we know no one can keep the standard of God and the people had broken it. The 10 commandments here represented by man’s disobedience on God’s holy standard, and the tablets in the Ark which Moses made, signifying man’s inability to measure up to God’s holiness in his own efforts.


His word is good for now and for the future.  And GOD's word, does this speak of JESUS!!
(and as the Holy Spirit teaches us His word)


In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ^2 [a]He was in the beginning with God. ³ All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. ⁴ In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. ⁵ The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not ^[b]comprehend it. John 1:1-4


God has an ARK, over laid with gold, and inside will be His testimony on His work, ways and words!!


His work that shows LOVE to provide for his believing children, Then, now and forever!!
His ways that shows Leadership for his children, Then, now and forever!!
His words that shows His Law for his children, Then, now and forever!!

A bibical revelation

The bible is the product, not of man, but of God, that is, its word are the very breathings of GOD. See 2Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

The Words which the Holy Spirit teaches, Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. ¹⁴ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  1 Cor 2:13-14

So, it is not merely the symbol of Immortality, but immortality itself, the veritable “Word of GOD which lives and abides forever” see 1 Peter 1:23-25

being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. ²⁴ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: ²⁵ but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Jesus stand at your door, your heart's door and knocks.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.  Rev.3:20

But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. ²⁹ Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, ³⁰ and brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. ³² And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. Acts16

They did not see the bible

I was talking to a family member the other day, who has been picture painting for many years now. He was ask by a church to paint picture for their new lobby / foyer.  So he came up with idea to paint a picture of the Church building sitting on a big beautiful bible. Obviously, showing the church is based on the Holy Bible (God's word) and it is their foundation.

Well, he hand painted the picture, it was accepted by the church and then placed in the new lobby and foyer. Months later, we talked and he made this statement," You know, I painted the picture of the church, BUT, no one recognized the bible it sat on".   Then God spoke to my heart and mind.

Many people to today see the big church buildings but they do not see the Holy Bible that the church is based on. Many do not see the bible as the foundation of the church. Jesus said,"
And I say to you that you are Peter, (Petras) and on this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades (death) will not overpower it . And Jesus is the corner stone, Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone, And he who believes in ^[l]Him will not be ^[m]disappointed.” ⁷ This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, “The stone which the builders rejected, This became the very corner stone,”
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and ^[o]acts on them, ^[p]may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵ And the rain fell, and the ^[q]floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. ²⁶ Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not ^[r]act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. ²⁷ The rain fell, and the ^[s]floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” Matthew 7

Jesus builds the church and became the corner stone. And many people do not see it and or they reject it.

Well, that's why we have to pray, preach and promote the gospel of Jesus Christ. For ALL other grounds are sinking sand. The song goes," On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other grounds are sinking sand" and truly all other grounds are sinking sand"

How firm is our foundation!! You saints of the LORD!!

 How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,  is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said, who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?

Jesus is just a prayer away, please call in Him today, He will hear you and save you.
For whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be saved.

May I testify 03/19

May I testify,

I was saved in 1974 Victory Baptist Church, 202 Canton road, In Cumming, Ga. I remember the time, I can still show you the place where the LORD saved me.  Thirteen year old teenage boy, at a cross roads in my life, I heard the great message of salvation, "Jesus saves" I went to an altar in the sanctuary of our church, the pastor's wife led me to the LORD, I accepted HIM, and I got saved. Later I would be baptized by my Pastor as it was seen by my family. THANK YOU LORD!!

Well, I could have went either way, at that cross roads at age 13, but praise the LORD, I saw the light and chose Christ. My family brought me to church and I heard the message of Christ. We stayed in church, joining Sunday school and Sunday morning worship. And we served the LORD.

Many years later God called me to preach and I answered the call. "Dan, how can they hear without a preacher?? Rom. 10:17 I stopped Technical school and went a community Baptist Bible College. During the 1981-1989 I went to Bible college at night, I got married and then I was called to a church to be their Pastor for ten years. My son was born during that time.

Then the new millennium, the year 2000, my son had medical conditions from birth and my wife and I had problems too, but God brought us through it all and has been so good to us. Praise- His- dear-name!!
