The Apostle Paul

1 Tim. 1:1-2

 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; ² unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

The bible is full of sermons, especially sermons on salvation and how to be saved.

 Here in 1 Timothy in the beginning verses we can see a message of salvation as seen in three ways, Paul’s title, Paul’s task and Paul’s trust

First Paul’s title, “Paul “  It’s his name but yet it reveals His conversion. He was a Jew and was name Saul after famous King Saul. He was name this in hopes he would do great things to come.

circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; ⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church;  touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. Phil. 3:5-6

As Saul He moved up high in the religion, But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 

For he met Jesus on the Damascus road, he became blind and could not see. Jesus called him and saved him and He changed his name from the great Saul to the little and humble Paul.

So his name  reveals his conversion, and He titles this book of Timothy as Paul.

My friend have you been converted to Christ??

Secondly, we see Paul’s Task, an apostle of Jesus Christ.  The word apostle means one sent, and one sent with a message.  Just as Jesus had gloriously saved Paul, his message was to ALL that Jesus could save them. It has been said Paul became a reporter, telling the Good news, the gospel. Then Paul was also a representative of Jesus Christ, Telling of His work, ways and wisdom.   

And friend have you heard of the message of salvation of Jesus Christ??

Thirdly, we see Paul’s trust, The Lord Jesus Christ, which is his hope.  Paul’s hope was in the one who called him, cleanse him and cared for him.  Jesus saved Paul and then used him in a great way to promote the great gospel of Jesus Christ.  The song writer said” My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and his righteousness.”

So we see Paul’s title, task and trust, ALL speak of why he turned to Jesus, and if he did, you could too, today.  Just call on the name of the Jesus, believe He’s GOD’s son and accept Him as your LORD and Savior.

Jesus the Way Maker

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me John 14:6

Three ways that Jesus is the Way Maker.

First, Jesus is the way maker in the way of Salvation.  
For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10
It was His mission.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John3:17
It was His mandate.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved John 10:9
It was His meaning.

Secondly, Jesus is the way maker in the way of our sanctification.
To be sanctified means to be set apart, so to be set apart for Him.
As [n]obedient children, do not [o]be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, 15 but [p]like the Holy One who called you, [q]be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;16 because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:14-15

 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. Rom 13:13

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Col.2:6


Thirdly, Jesus is the way maker in our service for Him.

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; Mark 16:15

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. John 20:21

A work of faith and a labor of love.

He provided a way, He preformed the way and He purpose the way.

Are you lost?? Jesus can provide you a way.

Seek the LORD while He may be found, draw near to the LORD and He will draw near to you, for whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be saved.

The truth that you need today


Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; ³² and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32




First you need that repenting truth. You need to be in that place in your mind and heart that you want to repent, meaning to change your spiritual direction, to change your path 180 degrees, a turn around. Are you ready for that change?? Do you believed and rely on Jesus??

Secondly, you need a regenerating truth. Where you believed and confess that you need to be born again and  saved.  For Jesus and the Holy Spirit to make a live that dead soul and spirit. Believing on Jesus, GOD's son, and receiving the power of the Holy Spirit to make your soul and spirit alive!! 


The seed is the word of GOD, and it's planted and received in your heart and mind. then when the Holy Spirit moves, it makes a the seed alive in you and those who believe.


Thirdly, you need redeeming truth. who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity Titus 2:15
 forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; ¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:1 Peter 1:18-19


Jesus paid the redeeming price with love, life and labor on the cross.   He did it ALL for me and you.  For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of GOD is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD. REDEEM how I love to proclaim it, redeemed by the shed blood of the Holy lamb of GOD, Jesus Christ, GOD's son!!


His child I am and forever I am!!


There are many false prophets and religious teachers, and they are ALL false without Jesus!!


That bread the came down from Heaven.  How GOD became flesh, came to this earth and dwelled among  us, then died for us. WHAT a great sacrifice !!


What truth are you looking for?? Are you searching for Him?? Draw near to the LORD and He will draw near to you, for whosoever shall call on the name for LORD shall be saved!!

Jesus command to love

Jesus commanding His Love

John 13:34-35

 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

I. His love is an unshaking Love

(The disciples and all His followers)

1. For He loved them despite their boasting, unlearned boasting

2. He loved them despite their blunders, unlisten blunders 

3. He loved them despite the blindness, unseen blunders

(he loved them He knew them)

II. He Love is an unselfish love

And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 and he is the propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 1 Jn 2:2

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:  1 JN 3:16

III. His Love is an unsurpassed love

For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷ For one will hardly die for a righteous man; ^[d]though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. ⁸ But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us Rom5:6-8

IV. His Love is an unsolved Love

There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. ¹² They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Rom 3:10-12

Four Helps for the Tempted Believer

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1Cor. 10:13

In our day and times, they are many temptations thrown to the believing Christian. The devil is consistent and use the same method and tactics that he used in the garden of Eden, which was lust of the flesh. Lust of eye and the pride of life, and he and his demons still use these methods today. (also cause us to doubt  the word of God)

Yet after we saved, born again, born from above, God has given us helps when we are tempted.

1. He gave us the Indwelling Holy Spirit. (in you)
    
   Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Rom8:26
   Our built in and on board teacher, who comforts us, corrects us, if we  don’t  grieve Him, put out His fire, quench Him, Oh LORD help us!!  And He is a spiritual companion.
    
   

   

   
   

II. He gave us an interceding Savior (above you) 
but this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. ²⁵ Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them Heb 7:25


Like the Old testament high priest, Jesus has you on His heart and mind. He who intercedes for you is the one who died for you, He take your place. 

III. He gave us the inspired scriptures (given you)

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb4:12

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,and a light unto my path psa 119:105

And by the way Psalms 119 it a great chapter on the word of God, you can glean many great helps from God word from this chapter, David did.

 

IV. He gave us interested saints (the church) around you


God’s people love God’s people and they will pray for you and encourage you. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. ¹² But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: ¹³ which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God John 11-14

BUT, if we do sin and we will, we have the New Testament laver, 1john 1:9

1. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

But My friend, the believing Christian, you have a way out, and God has provided a way out. Turn to Him, draw near to God, call on His name for help, and He will.

The boy and his bird

The other day I heard this story of the Boy and his bird, and it really speaks Jesus Christ's great love for us.

A mother was walking down the street from the grocery store and saw a little boy holding a little crippled bird in a box.  She could not look away as she noticed his great care for the bird.  It was a hot day and the lady said son let me help you with that little crippled bird. But the little boy said no thank you, I understand this bird very well and then He stood up exposing the braces on his leg.


Truly, Jesus knows all about our struggles and there not a friend like Jesus, no not one, no not one.


A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. ³⁵ By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another John 1324-35.
